Saison D`Erpe-Mere

Tonight's selection is Saison D`Erpe-Mere, made by Kleinbrouwerij De Glazen Toren in Belgium. This 750 ml bottle is brown and capped - no cork. Of course, there's yeast in the bottom of the bottle, as has been the case for all these Belgian beers. I am drinking this from my Duvel glass. This Saison is 7.5% ABV.

This one pours with a huge head that gets bigger even after you stop pouring. Specifically, my note says "mega foam". It ended up taking like 4 glasses worth to get through the whole 25.4 ounces.

It is a nice medium light golden color, and is a little cloudy. It is pretty, but almost all beer is pretty.

It smells like a saison. It has that slightly malty, slightly sweet, sharp and dry smell to it.

It tastes like saison light. It does have that distinctive flavor that I think people refer to as "peppery", but not too much. It is a little bit sweet, and I can also taste malted grains. It almost tastes like unfermented beer a little bit. Probably just has a higher than average finishing gravity.

Overall this one is good. I like it. I would definitely get it again. Thing is, it probably cost like $10 for this bottle, so maybe I'll just make it. Then I get it for about 1/5 that price.

That's it for now. Maybe I'll post a photo of the bottle later.
